Jade Goody dies of Cervical Cancer

March 22, 2009
Jade Goody

Reality television star Jade Goody, who was diagnosed with cervical cancer last year, has died, her publicist said this morning.

The 27-year-old, who was told she had cancer in August while appearing on Bigg Boss, the Indian version of Big Brother, died in her sleep at her home in Upshire, Esssex, at 3.14am, Max Clifford said.

Goody’s mother said, “My beautiful daughter is at peace.”

The prime minister led tributes to Goody, praising her bravery and the way she raised awareness of cancer.

Clifford said Goody’s mother, Jackiey Budden, and husband Jack Tweed were at her side when she died. A family friend, Kevin Adams, was also there. Budden called Clifford to tell him: “My beautiful daughter is at peace.”

Speaking outside her home, wearing pyjamas with a coat over the top, she added: “Family and friends would like privacy at last.”

In a statement Gordon Brown said he was “deeply saddened” by the news.

“She was a courageous woman both in life and death and the whole country has admired her determination to provide a bright future for her children.”

Conservative leader David Cameron said: “Her legacy will be to save the lives of more young women in the future. My thoughts are with her family and particularly her two young sons at this terrible time.”

Mourners started arriving at the house to pay tribute to Goody within minutes of the news breaking. They left floral tributes at the gates of her home. Goody’s body was taken out of her home and placed in the back of an estate car shortly before 8am.

Clifford said: “She died as she lived, in the public eye … it was her way of handling it.”

He said that the funeral service would be held at Goody’s local church, St John the Baptist in Buckhurst. He said she had wanted to be buried in the church cemetery, but it is full and so plans are still being made for a burial site. No date has been set for the funeral but it is likely to take place in the next 10 days.

In spite of undergoing radiotherapy and chemotherapy, Goody learned in February that the cancer had spread to other organs and was warned she had only a short time to live. The prognosis propelled her to try to secure the financial future of her two young sons, Bobby, five, and Freddie, four, through a series of media deals thought to be worth £1m.

Her wedding to Jack Tweed on 22 February took place behind closed doors as part of an exclusive magazine and television deal. Tweed, 21, was able to spend the night with his bride after Jack Straw, the justice secretary, intervened to waive the groom’s curfew. Tweed was banned from going out at night following his release from prison for attacking a 16-year-old boy with a golf club. He has since been found guilty of a further assault.

Goody, a former dental nurse, shot to fame on the 2002 series of Big Brother, where she was ridiculed by media commentators for her appearance and ignorance – she asked whether East Anglia was “abroad” and thought Rio de Janeiro was a person. She finished fourth and spent the next couple of years making the most of her fame – producing keep-fit DVDs, opening a beauty salon, writing her autobiography, launching her own perfume and appearing on television shows including Celebrity Wife Swap and Celebrity Stars in Their Eyes.

The public turned against her in 2007 after she was accused of racism and bullying towards Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty on Celebrity Big Brother. More than 45,000 people complained to the media regulator Ofcom about Goody’s behaviour towards Shetty. Goody visited India to apologise for the distress her actions had caused and had hoped her appearance on Bigg Boss would also help to make amends. She left the show to return to the UK after discovering during filming that she had cancer. Specialists reported a rise in demand for cervical cancer screening following Goody’s diagnosis. Cervical cancer is the second biggest cancer killer of women in their early 30s in the UK.

After learning that her cancer might be terminal, Goody told the News of the World: “I’ve lived my whole adult life talking about my life. The only difference is that I’m talking about my death now. It’s OK.

“I’ve lived in front of the cameras. And maybe I’ll die in front of them.”

Simon Hughes, MP for North Southwark and Bermondsey in south London where Goody grew up, said: “Jade Goody was a Bermondsey girl who went from public ridicule and public rebukes to public respect and public sympathy.”

Stephen Fry, who appeared with Goody on Jonathan Ross’s chatshow, said she was “a kind of Princess Di from the wrong side of the tracks”. Writing on microblogging site Twitter, he joined thousands of others by paying a tribute online. “All impulsive spirit & smiles. What a life,” he wrote.

Goody’s publicist said, “I think she’s going to be remembered as a young girl who has, and who will, save an awful lot of lives(for creating the awareness about Cervical cancer). She was a very, very brave girl. And she faced her death in the way she faced her whole life – full on, with a lot of courage.”

Google Releases Official Search Engine Optimization Starter Guide

January 3, 2009
Google SEO

One of the things that has always made SEO so tricky is that Google doesn’t really comment much about search engine optimization techniques and they are always changing their algorithm, leaving testing as the only way to figure out what SEO techniques work.

Well, in case any of our readers missed it, Google has released an official Search Engine Optimization Starter Guide (PDF). It doesn’t release any of Google’s algorithm secrets, but it does cover Google’s best practices for title tags, meta tags, URL structure, navigation, content, anchor text, headers, images and of course, Robots.txt, making this a good way to review the basics and make sure you have that stuff down correctly.

Pakistan not responsible for Mumbai terror attacks, says Zardari

December 3, 2008

Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari has strongly denied his country’s involvement in the audacious attacks in Mumbai, saying the terror strikes in the India’s financial capital were executed by the ’stateless actors who wanted to hold the entire world hostage’.

Zardari also ruled out any possibility of Pakistan and India going to war, saying “democracies do not go to war”.

“These (terrorists) are stateless actors who have been operating throughout the region. They include gunmen and the planners and are holding the entire world hostage,” he said.

Asserting that the state of Pakistan is not responsible for the attacks in Mumbai, he said that even the White House and the US intelligence agency Central Investigative Agency have said so.

Zardari rejected India’s demand that Islamabad hand over some 20 suspects, believed to be in Pakistan, saying: “If we had proof, we would try them in our courts. We would try them in our land and we would sentence them.”

Zardari said that he doubted India’s claim that the sole surviving gunman, who was captured by Indian security forces, was a Pakistani.

“We have not been given any tangible proof to say that he is definitely a Pakistani. I very much doubt that he’s a Pakistani,” he said, appearing on the Larry King Live programme on Tuesday night.

On External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee’s remark that no military action is being considered, Zardari said this is time to come together, do a joint investigation and look at the problem in the larger context.

“The threat is in the region and just not to Bombay or to India. The threat (also is) to the State of Pakistan. There’s a threat to Afghanistan, It’s a threat throughout region. So that would be counterproductive,” he added.

Zardari said the three wars India and Pakistan have fought took place during dictatorships in Pakistan. Asked about American attack on Iraq, Zardari said it was Washington’s reaction to the attack on the US.

“That is a reactive action and that is something that the terrorist are always looking for. That is exactly the fear and that’s why we should rise above it,” he said.

“I‘m a victim. The state of Pakistan is a victim. We are the victims of this war, and I am sorry for the Indians, and I feel sorry for them. I’ve seen this pain. I feel this pain every time I see my children. I can see it in their eyes. This pain lives with me because of my wife and what we are going through in Pakistan,” he added.

Asked whether Lashkar-e-Taiba was involved in the attacks, he replied that it is a banned organisation around the world. “If indeed they are involved, we would not know.”

These are the people who operate outside the system like Al Qaeda but Pakistan has offered full cooperation to India in investigating the incident, he added.

“We cannot rule anything out at the moment,” he said when asked whether the Al Qaeda might be involved. But he pointed out that it was too early premature to reach any conclusion.

To a question as to what Islamabad would do if India produces evidence of complicity of any Pakistani group in the attacks, Zardari said he would take action against them.

The Pakistani government, he said, was committed to fighting terrorism per se and is fighting it every day.

Asked whether Pakistan is actively working at finding out who attacked Mumbai, Zardari said that authorities are looking into the allegations ‘thrown at us from across the border’.

Defending Pakistan’s intelligence agencies accused of providing support to the militants, Zardari said in the past, lots of mistakes have been made, but the present government does not support any such action. “I can assure the world from my side, from my Army’s side, from my parliament’s side and the people of Pakistan that we are not helping any such activity,” he added.

Asked whether Pakistan would ever think of making preemptive strikes with nuclear weapons, Zardari replied that he has on record stated that Pakistan would never be the ‘perpetrator’ of first use.

He replied in the affirmative to a question on whether he is in favour of a ban on all nuclear weapons, saying he had invited Indians to join in.

“I have asked the Indians to join us in a nuclear-free South Asia. And we are willing — I am willing to assure the world, on behalf of my parliament, that if India comes with us, we can jointly sign a nuclear-free South Asia,” he added.

Asked whether it would happen, Zardari replied, “We can definitely stand on the possibility of that to happen.”

Replying to a question, he said Pakistan hopes to improve relations with India and other democracies in the world.

How to Play Sudoku? ~ Zapaky

October 2, 2008

Want To Know How To Play Sudoku?
I will show you how!

Sudoku requires no calculation or arithmetic skills. It is essentially a game of placing numbers in squares, using very simple rules of logic and deduction. It can be played by children and adults and the rules are simple to learn.

Sudoku Objective

The objective of the game is to fill all the blank squares in a game with the correct numbers. There are three very simple constraints to follow. In a 9 by 9 square Sudoku game:

  • Every row of 9 numbers must include all digits 1 through 9 in any order
  • Every column of 9 numbers must include all digits 1 through 9 in any order
  • Every 3 by 3 subsection of the 9 by 9 square must include all digits 1 through 9

Similarly, smaller Sudoku puzzles, such as the 4×4 puzzle, must have the numerals 1 through 4 in each row, column and subsection. Larger Sudoku games (16 by 16) must have numerals 1 through 16 in each row, column and region. The principles are the same whatever the size of the game.

Every Sudoku games begins with a number of squares already filled in, and the difficulty of each game is largely a function of how many squares are filled in. The more squares that are known, the easier it is to figure out which numbers go in the open squares. As you fill in squares correctly, options for the remaining squares are narrowed and it becomes easier to fill them in. The Sudoku games on SudokuDaily.net let you check your progress as you go, to help prevent going down a wrong path.

Sudoku Solution Techniques

Sudoku PuzzleThe first things to do in tackling a Sudoku puzzle is to scan the rows and columns to see where a certain number might go, given the 3 constraints listed above. For example, the fact that a 7 is required in the top right corner can be determined by first analyzing its 9 square sub-region. The only numbers missing in the region are a 5 and a 7. However, putting a 5 in the top right box would conflict with the 5 already in the top row and the rightmost column. The 7, on the other hand, would not conflict with any of the given numbers.

Once the 7 is filled in, deduction requires that only a 5 can go beneath it as all digits from 1 through 9 must be represented in the region. From there, one can turn to the two remaining open boxes in the right column – these must include a 2 and a 4 as the column’s digits must represent 1 through 9. One of these options, placing the 4 beneath the 1, would lead to a conflict with the 4 already in that horizontal row, so the only option for this box must be a 2.

However, options for boxes are often not that easy to deduce. Another technique is to “pencil in” possibilities and then follow the possible solutions that emerge until a conflict is found. Often these conflicts appear after 2 or 3 numbers are penciled in, and one can return to the start and try the next option until something clicks.

The Sudoku puzzles in newspapers make penciling in options very easy. Just put a possible number in a box, click on it, and it is moved to the top left light blue area of the box. From there you can start considering possibilities until the solution to a box or two emerges, or until you need to pencil in another option and start again.

The great thing about Sudoku is that every step makes the next step easier by narrowing possibilities. Every solved box makes filling the next box a little bit easier.

Hacking internet Cafe

September 22, 2008

Basic overview of this tutorial is if there’s some kind of timer or client
software on the computer you’re using at the Net Cafe you can hopefully disable it.

Firstly we need to gain access to command prompt (cmd.exe) to do this there’s a few
ways.

1) The most basic is to go Start/Run/cmd.exe and a black input screen should pop up.
Say that’s disabled then we can try some other methods.

2) Press the Windows Logo + R and it will start run up. (hopefully)

3) Navigate your way to C:\WINDOWS\system32 and run cmd.exe from in there.

4) Open notepad type “cmd.exe” without the quotation marks (“”) and then
go to File/Save As.. and type the name for the file and have it end with
.bat for example “MyNewFile.bat” and select Save as type and select All Files.

Make sure to save it somewhere you can access it, Like the desktop.

If they have deleted Notepad then go in to Internet Explorer and right click
and select View Source or on the menu bar click View then source and perform the
same process as above.

Once you have done this you can run the file. If you can’t open files from the desktop
then go back into Internet Explorer and go to View/Explorer Bar/Folders and navigate to
the Desktop and it will show the saves files on the desktop in a folder type window.

Once you have access to command prompt you can perform some usefull actions e.g shutdown
programs, shutdown other peoples computers, add new accounts.

Ok, well most Net cafes have software running that boots you off of the machine after a certain
ammount of time unless you pay for more time. Well, we don’t want that to happen now do we?

Firstly try figure out the Net Cafes timeing/credit softwares name cause this can help.

For more info on the software running we can use the command “tasklist” inside of command prompt.

example: “tasklist” (without quotation marks)

Basicly it brings up all the processes running.

Now say we know the process name for the Net Cafes software we need to disable it. So, how do we do that?
we use “taskkill” >:]

Basicly kills the process we specifcy. Say the Net Cafes software is “Timer.exe” for example and it’s shown in
the task list like that we would do this.

example: “taskkill /im Timer.exe /f”

/im : is for image name. Not quite sure what it means, but we need it.

Timer.exe : that’s the Net cafes software/process name (example)

/f : Forcefully shuts the program.

Now hopefully your Net Cafes software is terminated and you can freely use their computer with no time restriction.

If you have no luck finding the Net Cafes software name then just try ending processes that Windows Doesn’t rely on.

Perhaps you want to have a little fun with people on the network at the Net cafe? well here’s a few things for you
to do with command prompt.

Find the people on the network with “net view” and it will list the other computers names on the network.

The shutdown command. Basically the shutdown command will shutdown a computer on the network or your own computer (comes in
handy)

example: “shutdown -s -m HJCPwnts -t 20 -c You’re being shutdown”

use “shutdown -a” to cancel this action so you don’t shut your own computer down.

-s : sets the shutdown action.

-m : specify the computer name (HJCPwts) that’s what my computer name would be on the network. (to find out
how to find computer names use net view. It will list the other computer names.)

-t : the time until shutdown in seconds. Just specify it for 0 if you want it instant.

-c : the comment that will be shown on the shutdown window (not needed, but goo to leave the victim a message)

-f : I left this one out because it shuts the applications the user is running down, but add it on the end when doing
it to someone else.

Now for some more stuff. Perhaps we want to create a new account on this computer and login to it? Well, lets do it then. Ok, this is how we do it.

In command prompt type “net user CoolGuy /add” this basically adds a new user by the name of CoolGuy. Simple ehh?
well we have struck a problemo. How the hell do we login to that account? EASY!

In fact we have already covered most of it. We will be using the shutdown command again.

“shutdown -l” : basicly this logs us out and we can log back in with the CoolGuy account.

-l : sets the logout action.

Ok, so you have had your fun with the new account now and you want to get rid of it in case
of the Net Cafe staff finding it. Well that’s simple aswell, all we do is..

“net user CoolGuy /delete” and it will delete that user. Make sure to check it has been
deleted by using “net user” and it will show the accounts.

PS This wasn’t written by me. I’m just sharing it. All due credit goes to the original poster.

Batista Arrives in Delhi, India : Master of the rings arrives

September 20, 2008

American professional wrestler Dave Batista.

While his teeming fans in the country look up to him with a lot of admiration and respect, American professional wrestler Dave Batista himself holds the Indian-born Khali, his formidable opponent in the ring, in high esteem.

The 6-foot-6-inch tall wrestler came calling in Delhi on Thursday to speak about his love for India and of course the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) from where he earns his bread and butter.

“I have fought against many wrestlers in the ring, but it has to be a wrestler from your country whom I really admire. Khali is the biggest and strongest opponent I have ever faced. In my long career, the longest drawn out fight has been with Undertaker. More than the fight, we also have to entertain our fans,” says Batista with a mischievous smile. He is a three-time WWE champion.

Stating that he wasn’t expecting so many people to turn up for his press conference, Batista noted that this is his first visit to India. “I would like to show my wrestling skills to fans in your country but I am clueless about my tour schedule. I am open to the idea of doing a Bollywood film. Among Indian actors, I admire Aishwarya Rai and I would love to do a film with her. She is among the most beautiful persons in the world,” says Batista, who considers himself neither a leader nor a follower.

Enrolling at Wild Samoan Afa’s wrestling school in Allentown, Batista considered wrestling as a way to make a living. “I was a bouncer for ten years. I used to train and compete as a bodybuilder and also worked in clubs. But I don’t know whether bouncers can become wrestlers because it takes a lot of blood, sweat and tears,” says the wrestler, whose nickname is “The Animal”.

Batista loses his temper only if provoked repeatedly: “I am not the sort of guy who beats up someone just like that. It takes a lot of provocation to make me angry. To fulfil my dream to become a wrestler, I have worked out really hard. Being a wrestler at WWE means constant travelling. It is a painstaking profession and injuries are part of everyday life.”

Batista says he has another year or two before he quits the ring. “I love wrestling so much that I would continue doing it as long as my body can cope and my fans want me.”

To keep fighting fit, Batista says he takes a high-protein diet. “My diet consists of low fat. I avoid processed food. I do workout wherever I go.”

Batista will be travelling to Mumbai where he will meet WWE officials and some Bollywood stars.
